Norovirus is a virus that causes gastro and the severe symptoms that coincide it. It is particularly infectious and is commonly the cause of gastro outbreaks in schools, childcare centres and aged care facilities. Close human contact on a day-to-day level is a key factor in the spread of viruses such as this. Currently, an aged care home in Hervey Bay, on the Fraser Coast, is in lockdown after a breakdown of norovirus last week. It is understood that thirty patients and twenty staff were infected and ill, a huge amount! Read more on this catastrophic case in the Fraser Coast Chronicle’s latest article here.
